It’s the last day of August, which means fall is officially on the horizon. This is the best time of year because summer and fall intersect and produce from both seasons are widely available.

While I’m ready for fall, I haven’t quite shifted gears yet as far as food prep. I have a few more late summer-inspired recipes coming your way in September, then it will be all about pumpkin, apples, pears and comfort food. 🙂

For now, my mind is planted firmly on Labor Day, which typically includes a feast of grilled bbq chicken, corn on the cob and our all time favorite side dish — this Broccoli Slaw Salad.

While my family enjoys classic coleslaw, this broccoli version has been a family favorite for years. I make it once a week and it never, ever gets old. That speaks volumes, because normally I get tired of making (and eating) the same things. 🙂

This dish is a hybrid of broccoli slaw and broccoli salad. It incorporates a double dose of broccoli with slaw and florets, so it’s the best of both worlds.
