3-Ingredient Orange Cream Smoothie is a creamy, refreshing vegan smoothie that’s reminiscent of an orange creamsicle bar!

There’s no better way to kick off a Monday than with a smoothie that looks like a ray of sunshine is there?  This 3-Ingredient Orange Cream Smoothie even tastes like a ray of sunshine.

I feel bad because I’ve been making this smoothie for months and am just now sharing it with you.  My entire family is currently obsessed with it!

Normally an obsession doesn’t last longer than a few weeks to a month, but this smoothie has had some major staying power.

One of the main reasons that I love this orange smoothie is because it reminds me of the Creamsicle pops that I use to indulge in on occasion when I was growing up.

I haven’t had a Creamsicle since before I graduated high school, but obviously I’ve never forgotten those creamy, refreshing orange vanilla bars.

This smoothie is amazingly creamy and refreshing like the Creamsicle bars but its even better because it doesn’t contain any artificial ingredients or added sugar.

That healthy freshness is what really gives it staying power!

Recipe ingredients

  • Real oranges (no orange juice or orange juice concentrate)
  • Banana
  • Unsweetened vanilla almond milk (use protein nut milk for a protein boost)

This orange smoothie is a great way to utilize the fresh oranges that are in season right now.  I actually use Cuties in my smoothies because I always have a bowl full of those easy-peel mandarins on my counter, but you can use regular oranges as well.

Many orange cream smoothies contain yogurt for creaminess, but I’ve found that banana and almond milk will make a smoothie just as creamy.

I suggest using frozen bananas in your smoothie because it results in a thick, frosty smoothie.  Simply peel your overripe bananas, place them in a zip top bag, and freeze for smoothie making.

You can even cut them into chunks prior to freezing so all you have to do is pop them in your blender.

Unsweetened almond milk is my go to liquid for smoothies.  It’s got a neutral flavor and it really ups the creamy-factor.  I normally use almond milk with protein like Silk or Ripple in our smoothies for some added protein, but you can use your favorite non-dairy or dairy milk.

The only thing you really need to remember when you’re making your smoothie is that you should always add the liquid first, fresh ingredients next, and frozen last.

This will keep your ingredients moving in the blender.  Even my powerful Vitamix will get stuck if the frozen ingredients are toward the bottom of the blender.

Blender with orange cream smoothie ingredients

1 1/2 cups of almond milk was just enough liquid to keep the ingredients moving freely in the blender and gave the smoothie just the right amount of thickness for me.

If you like your smoothies thicker, start by adding one cup of almond milk and add more as needed.  If you like a thinner smoothie, you may add even more almond milk or use fresh banana instead of frozen.

Prep your smoothie ingredients ahead to speed things up even more.  Chop your banana and pop it in the freezer, then peel your orange(s), separate the slices and remove some of the excess pith.

I normally divide this smoothie into 4 smaller servings, but you can definitely divide it into 2 larger servings as well.  The choice is yours!

This 3-Ingredient Orange Cream Smoothie is bursting with the flavor of real oranges and has such a creamy texture that you’d never know it was vegan.

It’s healthy and delicious, which will result in some major staying power with you and your family too. 🙂
