my favorite recipes of 2014 |

I just shared the 15 most viewed recipes of 2014 with you, and now I need to share my favorites.  Picking only 15 was WAY too difficult, so I’m going with 20.  All of my recipes are near and dear to my heart, so picking favorite recipes is almost like trying to choose a favorite child.  You love so many things about them but they’re so different that you can’t compare or choose.  While I’d never be able to choose a favorite child, I forced myself to get down to the nitty gritty and choose my favorite recipes.  The recipes that I could eat over and over again because they’re just that flipping good.  Well, at last I did it, so let’s get down to business.

Here’s my list:

salted caramel carrot cupcakes4

20.  Salted Caramel Carrot Cupcakes with Vanilla Bean Mascarpone Frosting.  Super moist carrot cupcakes topped with luscious mascarpone frosting and homemade salted caramel sauce.  In a word…divine.

Beer Braised Slow Cooker Pulled Pork4 |

19.  Beer Braised Slow Cooker Pulled Pork with Honey Pineapple BBQ Sauce.  Pulled Pork is something I do a lot, and this particular one is rubbed with a delicious spice rub, braised in beer, and doused in homemade barbecue sauce.  It’s the ultimate Game Day food!

18.  Kale and Napa Cabbage Salad with Greek Yogurt Dressing.  This salad is like a winter slaw — it’s creamy, crunchy, and chewy, and is loaded with apples, dried cranberries, and pecans.  So addicting, and so pretty. 🙂

grilled sweet potato fries with sriracha ketchup5 |

17.  Grilled Sweet Potato Fries with Sriracha Ketchup.  The easiest and best way to make sweet potato fries in the summer!  No oven, and the fries are nice and smoky with a spiced up ketchup.

mango lassi3

16.  Skinny Mango Lassi.  I love myself some mango, and this is one of the best ways I know to enjoy it.  This smoothie is thick, creamy, and mango-licious.

flavor the moments

15.  German Chocolate Cake Roll.  Moist chocolate cake rolled up with coconut pecan frosting and topped with ganache and toasted coconut.  This was my dream birthday cake!

no bake peanut butter chocolate chip energy bars3 |

14.  No Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Energy Bars.  I make these a LOT.  They’re so much better than store bought and with only a few ingredients, they come together in a flash!

beer-soft-pretzels-with-maple-mustard-sauce4 |

13.  Beer Soft Pretzels with Maple Mustard Sauce.  I finally made homemade soft pretzels and never looked back.  The beer flavor is delicious here, and that maple mustard sauce — best.thing.ever.

flavor the moments

12.  Mango Tomatillo Guacamole.  I love my guacamole, and this particular version was off the charts!  Sweet mangos with tart little chunks of tomatillos was the perfect combination.

butternut-squash-potato-leek-soup3 |

11.  Butternut Squash Potato Leek Soup.  This soup is creamy, velvety, and comforting, and the crispy thyme croutons give it a nice herbaceous crunch.

flavor the moments

10.  Salted Caramel Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons.  I’ve always been big on coconut, and these coconut macaroons are some of the best all on their own.  Dip them in chocolate and fill them with salted caramel and they’re in a league of their own.

turkey sausage jalapeno white bean chili3 |

9.  Turkey Sausage White Bean Jalapeño Chili.  This is the best chili I’ve ever made!  There’s tons of flavor with a nice kick…it’s the ultimate chili.

spicy-espresso-gingersnap-cookies4 |

8.  Spicy Espresso Gingersnap Cookies.  I have no idea why I never added espresso to my gingersnaps before this year, but thankfully it happened.  There’s no going back — the espresso deepens the molasses flavor making these sugar coated, crackly gingersnaps the best ever in my book.

greek pita chip panzanella salad3 |

7.  Greek Pita Chip Panzanella Salad {Fattoush}.  Panzanellas are some of my favorite salad, so when I tossed some homemade pita chips into my Greek salad, I was bound to love it.  And love it I did!  Over and over again. 🙂

butternut squash cornbread muffins4 |

6.  Butternut Squash Cornbread Muffins.  I’ve told you how much I love cornbread, and the first time I made these I knew they were special.  They’re so moist and so delicious that you’d never know they were healthy!  I make them every chance I get.

flavor the moments

5.  Zucchini Roasted Corn Fritters with Cilantro Jalapeño Lime Greek Yogurt.   Moist delicious fritters loaded with roasted corn and zucchini with a tangy, kicked up yogurt sauce.  In all seriousness, how can you go wrong here?  This is how I love to eat.

dark-chocolate-hazelnut-english-toffee4 |

4.  Dark Chocolate Hazelnut English Toffee.  When I go to a candy store, I get English toffee.  This has a salted, bourbon, hazelnut twist, and I had a hard time walking away from it!

autumn minestrone soup {gluten free}3 |

3.  Autumn Minestrone Soup.  I could eat this soup every single day of my life and not get tired of it.  It’s chalk full of veggies, pancetta, and there’s farro instead of pasta.  It’s autumn in a bowl.

shaved-brussels-sprout-salad-with-apples-bacon-and-hazelnuts4 |

2.  Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad with Apples, Bacon, and Hazelnuts.  I love brussels sprouts, and this salad is my favorite way to eat them.  It requires some elbow grease, but I’m happy to do it when the payoff is this crunchy, chewy, highly addicting salad!

mini-salted-caramel-pumpkin-cheesecakes4 |

1.  Mini Salted Caramel Pumpkin Cheesecakes.  Normally cheesecakes are too heavy for me, but these 3-4 bite minis are just perfect.  This is the epitome of  pumpkin desserts for me — complete with a graham cracker pecan crust and salted caramel sauce.  Bye, bye, pumpkin pie. 🙂

I’ll have you know I changed my list a few times as I typed this up — choosing is hard!  I think I have it right, and if I could, I’d give you about 30 honorable mentions too.  I won’t though.  Let’s just suffice it to say that I’d be happy to eat all of the foods listed here day in and day out.  I hope you enjoyed checking out my list of food faves, and I now I’m wondering…what would some of yours be? 🙂
