I’ve never been a big fan of fudge, which may sound strange. If you’ve followed my blog for a while you know I love chocolate!

Most fudge recipes are so sweet that they make my teeth hurt. Being a chocolate lover, I know that it doesn’t need a lot of sugar to taste incredible.

Several years ago I created this dark chocolate fudge, and it was a game changer for me. It’s got big chocolate flavor with a hint of sea salt and crunchy bits of toffee that make it irresistible.

This Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge was inspired by that recipe. My love for peanut butter and chocolate runs deep, as I’ve demonstrated with recipes like my flourless peanut butter cookies and peanut butter brownies.

This recipe incorporates those flavors perfectly in a decadent, easy fudge made with condensed milk. It delivers big flavor and is hands down the best fudge recipe in my book!

Recipe ingredients

This is an easy fudge recipe with condensed milk. The milk includes two ingredients in one (sugar and milk), which means less prep time.

Unlike old fashioned fudge, this recipe incorporates real chocolate instead of cocoa powder, which also translates into fewer ingredients.

Ingredient notes

  • Chocolate chips. I highly recommend using dark chocolate because it contains less sugar.  Semi-sweet or milk chocolate will result in overly sweet fudge when combined with the sweetened condensed milk.
  • Peanut butter. It was important to me to use real peanut butter instead of peanut butter chips because the chips are overly sweet and lack the peanut butter flavor that I’m looking for.
  • Sweetened condensed milk. The sweetened condensed milk is basically evaporated milk with sugar added, so it’s two ingredients in one!
  • Coconut oil. The coconut oil helps thin the chocolate and peanut butter to make it spreadable and also softens it, resulting in fudge that’s easier to eat. The coconut oil may be substituted with your favorite butter or oil.
  • Peanuts. The chopped peanuts add a nice crunchy texture that makes this fudge even more addictive.

How to make fudge with condensed milk

This is the easiest fudge recipe you’ll ever make. Old fashioned fudge requires cooking cocoa powder, butter, sugar and milk with a candy thermometer, so it can be quite temperamental.

This chocolate peanut butter fudge recipe is foolproof. The ingredients are simply melted together and chilled. The hardest part is waiting for it to set!

Pro tip:  I highly recommend using dark chocolate because it contains less sugar.  Semi-sweet or milk chocolate will result in overly sweet fudge when combined with the sweetened condensed milk.

How to make chocolate peanut butter fudge collage
  1. Place 1 cup of the chocolate chips, 1 tablespoon of the coconut oil, and half the can of sweetened condensed milk in a medium heatproof bowl set inside a pan of barely simmering water.
  2. Stir until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is well combined.
  3. Stir in 1/4 cup of the chopped peanuts until incorporated.
  4. Spread the chocolate fudge layer evenly in the prepared pan.
  5. Heat the peanut butter and remaining tablespoon of coconut oil in the microwave for about 30 seconds or until melted, and stir well to combine.
  6. Add the remaining half can of sweetened condensed milk and stir until incorporated.
  7. Spread the peanut butter fudge layer gently and evenly over the top of the chocolate fudge layer.
  8. Press the remaining chocolate chips and chopped peanuts into the top, and sprinkle with sea salt. Chill for a minimum of 2 hours or until set.

How do you fix fudge with condensed milk?

Fudge made with condensed milk is the easiest fudge to make! Simply melt the chocolate in a double boiler with a bit of coconut oil or butter and sweetened condensed milk, and stir until combined. Pour the fudge in a foil lined pan, spread evenly and chill for a minimum of 2 hours or until set.

How do you make condensed milk fudge set?

Simply place in the refrigerator for about 2 hours or until set, then cut the chocolate peanut butter fudge into squares with a very sharp knife.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips divided
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil divided (unsalted butter may be substituted)
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk divided
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped salted peanuts divided

Instructions 

  • Line an 8×8" square baking pan with foil and spray lightly with cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Place a sauté pan with about 2 inches of water over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Place 1 cup of the chocolate chips in a heat proof bowl with 1 tablespoon of the coconut oil and 1/2 of the can of the sweetened condensed milk. Place the bowl into the pan of simmering water and reduce heat to low (this is your double boiler).
  • Stir the chocolate mixture with a rubber scraper until smooth, then add 1/4 cup of the chopped peanuts and stir until combined.
  • Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Place the peanut butter and remaining coconut oil in a microwaveable bowl and microwave for 30 seconds or until melted, then stir to combine.
  • Stir in the remaining sweetened condensed milk until well incorporated.
  • Pour the peanut butter fudge mixture over the chocolate mixture and spread evenly.
  • Press the remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of chopped peanuts into the top, and chill for a minimum of 2 hours or until set. Once chilled, lift the fudge out of the pan and remove the foil. Place on a cutting board and cut into squares. Serve and enjoy!
