Strawberry Lemon Drop
Strawberry Lemon Drop is a refreshing cocktail with fresh pureed strawberries, lemon juice, and vodka. Dip the rim of your glass in sugar and your drink is complete!
When I was younger, there were several cocktails that I really liked. Margaritas were always #1, followed closely by cosmopolitans and lemon drops.
A local restaurant/bar that I used to frequent in my younger years had the best lemon drop cocktail ever.
It had the perfect amount of lemon juice and sweetness, yet it was still on the strong side. It was just the way I liked it, and it was made perfectly every single time.
This Strawberry Lemon Drop is my spin on that cocktail. It’s refreshing, fruity, and perfect.
I’m not really a cocktail drinker anymore because quite honestly, they’re very expensive and you just don’t know how they’re going to be from one place to the other.
I can’t fathom paying $10-15 for a cocktail that I probably won’t like, so I was inspired to try making my own strawberry lemon drop.
Plus I got to have fun playing bartender for a little while, and I’ve secretly always wanted to be one. 😉
This cocktail couldn’t be easier. Simply puree the strawberries in a blender, then strain them through a fine mesh sieve to remove the seeds and squeeze some fresh lemon juice.
I don’t have fancy shakers or martini glasses, but I ended up with a drink that I’d be happy with even if I had to pay $10 for it.
The refreshing mix of fresh strawberries with lemon juice, some vodka and a splash of Cointreau, or triple sec, if you’d rather, is the perfect spring/summer drink.
And don’t forget that sugared rim — it’s not a true lemon drop if you do. 🙂
Who wouldn’t be happy with this pretty pinkish red drink in front of them with the sparkly, sugared rim and sunny lemon slice? It’s just too cheery to pass up.
If you’re disenchanted with the subpar cocktails you shell out the big bucks for, take matters into your own hands, too!
Just a few simple ingredients lead you to one fresh, delicious cocktail that’ll be a guaranteed hit at just about any celebration. 🙂

Strawberry Lemon Drop
Ingredients
For the Simple Syrup:
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
For the cocktail
- 1/2 cup vodka
- 2 tablespoons simple syrup
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons pureed fresh strawberries strained through a fine mesh strainer*
- 1/2 teaspoon Cointreau or triple sec I used Cointreu
- granulated sugar for the rim of the glasses
Instructions
Prepare the simple syrup:
- Place the sugar and water in a small saucepan and heat over low heat until the sugar melts. Heat over medium low until heated through, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and cool completely.
Prepare the cocktails:
- Place some granulated sugar on a small plate. Wet the rim of the glasses with water and dip them in the sugar. Set aside.
- Place the vodka, simple syrup, lemon juice, strawberry puree, and Cointreau or triple sec in a small pitcher or large measuring cup and whisk to combine. Add ice and stir. Alternately, you can use a cocktail shaker.
- Pour the cocktail into the glasses, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
- I pureed 1 cup of strawberries in a blender, which yielded just under 1/2 cup or so of puree. Just refrigerate the leftovers or make more than 2 cocktails!
- Leftover simple syrup may be stored in an air tight container in the fridge. The nutrition information includes all of the simple syrup, though you won't need it all.
- The cocktail is still a bit on the strong side with the simple syrup, but with the sugared rim, it's just perfect.
- Cointreau is optional, but it adds a nice depth of flavor. Plus it's great in margaritas, too!

What a gorgeous drink, Marcie! I love lemon drops but have never had a straberry one. I love how refreshing this sounds! Pinned!
Thank you, Gayle! I figured why not give a lemon drop a fruitier spin? The more fruit the better. 🙂 And thanks for the pin!
This cocktail is beautiful, Marcie! I love the simplicity, yet elegance going on here. Fortunately, I have everything I need to make this right now. It’s 5:00 somewhere!
Thank you, Rachelle! It is 5:00 somewhere, and it is the weekend! haha 🙂

I’ve never even had a strawberry lemon drop before this! haha When I was in my 20’s, there were no mixologists. 🙂 It’s funny how a nice cocktail does make you feel fancy — it’s so much fun!
These look divine! I love lemon drink recipes – always super refreshing! 😀

This cocktail is beautiful, Marcie! I love how refreshing and pretty the pureed strawberries are in here. This sounds perfect to sip on out on the patio now that the weather is warmer too! Yum!
Thank you, Kelly! It was a little departure from my usual red wine, haha, so it was fun! 🙂
Ooh, it’s been a bit of a tough day, Marcie, and what I wouldn’t give for one (or three) or these right now!
Strawberry and lemon are two of my favourite fruity flavours as well!
Sorry you had a tough day, Helen, but this drink would help you get over it! haha
This looks heavenly, perfect for the summer months!
Thank you, Rebecca! 🙂
haha oh my gosh so true! The starbucks thing drives me nuts – I always order the same thing and so often it tastes so different!! 🙂 Coffee problems lol
I love making drinks at home – cheaper and you can make it just how you want. This sounds so so good! Love that it uses fresh strawberry!
I have no idea why I go out to coffee — I complain out this or that every single time! haha Thanks, Ashley!
Marcie, I’ve told you before, I know that you are wanting me to move in with all the recipes you make. I mean, each and every one speaks to me. Just know that when I move in, I”m not going anywhere, because if you keep cooking and making cocktails like you do, you’ll never get rid of me! xoxo Pinned. Because I need this delish drink in my life. 🙂
Didn’t you know I was making all of these dishes for you, Kristi? haha Come on down! 🙂
Oh I know what you mean! I have serious problems with Starbucks cappuccinos. Sometimes great, sometimes ugh. I tend to play my own bartender because I’m partial when it comes to drinks. This looks right up my alley!
Buying coffee out is one of the most frustrating things ever! I love cappuccinos, but those get especially messed up (too heavy, too light). 🙁 The bartender thing is pretty fun, so I’ll be doing this more often. I think I need to invest in a shaker! haha Thanks, Alyssa!
This drink looks so refreshing and beautiful!
Thank you, Jamie! 🙂
You’re so welcome, Lily! I’m glad you like it! 🙂
Thank you, Christina, and it’s definitely been great for our warm weather here! 🙂
Oooo I’m not a cocktail kind of girl either but I think I could change for this one!!
I really do like making them at home so much more! Thanks, Julie!
Where have I been? I had never heard of a lemon drop before my mom started drinking them last summer, and the lemon lover in me had to try them out…repeatedly. 😉 I love the color of yours Marcie, so pretty and perfect for spring!!
Sounds like you’ve been making up for lost time on the lemon drops! haha Thanks, Lisa! 🙂
Mmmm a good cocktail is definitely something I can get behind! This one sounds so yummy, perfectly refreshing for summer! Is it Friday yet!?
It is Friday, Jess! haha Thanks, and have a great weekend! 🙂
I think I found my new favorite drink Marcie! So refreshing!!
Thanks, Deb! 🙂
This is my kind of drink Marcie! Looks so good.
Thank you, Jocelyn! 🙂
This looks perfect, Marcie! Can’t wait to make it this summer….or maybe this weekend!!!!
Absolutely amazing! So fresh, so delicious! My strawberries pureed wouldnt strain, we’re too thick, so I just used them pureed, very very good! Perfection! Even though it’s on the stronger side, but isn’t that how it should be? ? Thanks so much for the recipe! Love it and definitely a keeper! A+++
Thank you for the great feedback, Luda, and I’m so glad you loved the drink! I agree…the drink is better on the strong side. ?
