Broiled Salmon with Sweet and Spicy Rub

Broiled Salmon with Sweet and Spicy Rub is an easy broiled salmon recipe topped with a simple salmon rub.  It's a healthy dinner that comes together in minutes!

  • 1 1/2 lbs. salmon skin on or off (4-6 fillets or 1 large)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons brown coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


  • Place the salmon fillets on a foiled lined rimmed baking sheet. Place an oven rack about 6 inches from the top of the oven and preheat the broiler to high.
  • Prepare the rub. In a small bowl, combine the coconut sugar, chili powder, smoked paprika and salt.
  • Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the salmon fillets, then massage the desired amount of the salmon rub into the top of the salmon (you may not need it all).
  • Broil the salmon for 5-10 minutes, depending on the thickness (see Notes), or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork. Serve and enjoy!


  • It takes about 8-10 minutes to cook salmon fillets that are around 1" thick.
  • If the skin is off of your salmon, I recommend coating the bottom with olive oil as well to prevent sticking. If the skin is on, the skin will stick to the foil and the fillet is easily removed from the pan.
  • Store leftover salmon in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Double or triple the salmon rub and store leftovers in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 1 month.
