For the meatloaf:

  • 1 lb. lean ground turkey
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

For the barbecue sauce:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • pinch cayenne pepper
  • salt to taste

Prepare the meatloaf:

  • Place the ground turkey, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, milk, oats, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Using your hands, gently mix the ingredients together just until incorporated.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for at least 30-45 minutes until the oats soften.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a meatloaf pan with cooking spray, or line a large rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place the meat mixture into the meatloaf pan, or form it into the size of a standard size loaf pan on the baking sheet.
  • Place on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 20 minutes.

Prepare the sauce:

  • Place all sauce ingredients in a small bowl and whisk together.
  • When the meatloaf has baked 20 minutes, spread the sauce over the top and bake 20 minutes more, or until a meat thermometer registers 165-180 degrees F. Place on a serving platter, slice, and enjoy!

  • If you're pressed for time, use your favorite bottled barbecue sauce.
