Instant Pot Brown Rice is the hands off way to cook perfectly tender, fluffy brown rice every single time! It's the perfect side dish and it's great for meal prep!
1cupbrown ricerinsed and drained well; do not use quick cooking brown rice
1.25cupswater
1/2teaspoonsea salt
Instructions
Place the rinsed and drained brown rice in the Instant Pot. Add the water and salt and stir well to combine. Be sure that all of the rice is submerged in the water.

Secure the lid and close the venting valve. Cook at High Pressure for 20 minutes, then allow the pressure to naturally release for 10-15 minutes (note that it will take the Instant Pot 10 minutes to come to pressure before cooking time begins). From there, open the venting valve and quick release the remaining pressure. Remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Pro tip: Do not use Instant brown rice as it will turn to mush. This recipe works well with long grain, short grain, jasmine and basmati brown rice.
Total time includes 10 minutes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure, and 10 minutes to naturally release the pressure.
This recipe is easily doubled using 2 cups of brown rice and 2 1/2 cups of water. The cooking time will be the same.
For meal prep: Cool the rice quickly by spreading it out on a baking sheet in an even layer. Once cooled, place in an air tight container and store for up to 3 days.
