High Protein Buffalo Chicken Dip
This High Protein Buffalo Chicken Dip is creamy, cheesy, and packed with bold buffalo flavor! It has 17 grams of protein per serving thanks to chicken breast and Greek yogurt, and it’s ready in 40 minutes. It’s the perfect game day dip served warm with crackers, bread or crunchy veggies!

There’s nothing better than a cheesy dip for Game Day, and this High Protein Buffalo Chicken Dip really delivers.
It’s creamy and cheesy with Greek yogurt, cream cheese and plenty of grated cheddar, with the bold flavor of buffalo sauce to cut through the richness. Shredded chicken breast makes it nice and hearty with 17 grams of protein per serving!
The best part is that you can whip up this dip in about 10 minutes using rotisserie or leftover chicken, and it bakes up to bubbly, golden brown perfection in about 30 minutes.
This recipe is nearly effortless and is a huge crowd pleaser. It’s already taken the top spot over my hot artichoke dip because my family loves that its high in protein.
It’s so satisfying, there’s no judgement if you just want to call it dinner. 🙂

Why you’ll love this recipe
- Higher in protein. Using Greek yogurt instead of mayo adds a protein boost without sacrificing that rich, creamy texture.
- Easy to make. Just mix everything together, transfer it to a baking dish, and bake until hot and bubbly.
- All the buffalo flavor. Tangy buffalo sauce, tender chicken, and melted cheddar give you everything you love about buffalo wings in dip form.
- Perfect for entertaining. It’s easy to prep ahead and is always a hit at parties, potlucks, and game day gatherings.
Recipe ingredients

- Greek yogurt. My favorite way to lighten up the dip while adding protein. Use full fat plain Greek yogurt for richness and creaminess.
- Cream cheese. Adds richness and helps create that classic creamy consistency. Make sure it’s softened so it blends smoothly.
- Buffalo sauce. Brings the signature tangy heat. My favorite brand is Primal Kitchen, but use your favorite brand and adjust the amount to your preferred spice level.
- Chicken. Cooked shredded chicken breast keeps this dip hearty and protein-packed. Rotisserie chicken is a convenient shortcut, or use leftover chicken.
- Seasonings. Garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper round out the flavors.
- Cheese. Adds plenty of cheesy flavor, both mixed into the dip and melted over the top.
- Green onions. Optional, but adds freshness and color that balances the richness of the dip.

How to make this recipe
This buffalo chicken dip with Greek yogurt is incredibly easy to make. It takes about 10 minutes of time to prep using rotisserie or leftover chicken.
Pro tip: Make sure the cream cheese is completely softened before beating it, and use room-temperature Greek yogurt if possible. This helps the ingredients blend smoothly and creates a creamier dip.
See the recipe card below for full instructions.

Tips for success
- Soften the cream cheese first. This is the secret to a smooth dip! Beating the cream cheese before adding the Greek yogurt prevents lumps and makes everything easier to combine.
- Use full fat Greek yogurt. Full fat will result in a creamier texture. 2% will also work, but I don’t recommend using fat-free Greek yogurt.
- Shred your own cheese. Freshly grated cheddar melts more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.
- Adjust the heat. Buffalo sauces vary in spiciness, so choose one that suits your taste. Add more or less as desired.
- Don’t overbake. Bake just until the dip is heated through and bubbly. Overbaking can cause the dairy to separate or become watery.
Recipe FAQs
Absolutely! Rotisserie chicken is a great shortcut for this recipe. Just shred it into bite-sized pieces before adding it to the dip.
Yes. While nonfat Greek yogurt will work, I recommend using full-fat or 2% Greek yogurt for a richer, creamier dip. Be sure to use a thick, plain variety.
Yes. Mix the ingredients as directed, transfer to a lightly greased slow cooker, and heat on low until hot and the cheese has melted, stirring occasionally. Add the remaining cheddar toward the end. Avoid prolonged cooking, which can cause the dairy to separate.
Serving suggestions
- Serve warm with toasted bread, breadsticks or your favorite chips or crackers.
- It’s great with crunchy veggies like celery, carrots or bell pepper.
- Garnish with sliced green onions or even chives for freshness and color.
- Top with crumbled blue cheese for a classic, iconic flavor combination.
Make Ahead and Storage
- Make ahead: Assemble the dip up to 24 hours in advance, cover tightly, and refrigerate until ready to bake. You may need to add a few extra minutes to the baking time if it’s cold from the refrigerator.
- Refrigerator: Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: Reheat individual portions in the microwave in short intervals, stirring as needed. For larger portions, cover and warm in a 325°F oven until heated through.
