- Wash the sweet potatoes well, blot dry, and prick them all over with a fork.

- Bake at 425 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until very tender.
Recipe FAQs
Bake at a higher temperature of 425 degrees to cook them a bit more quickly, to get a nice crispy skin, and to promote caramelization.
I prefer not to wrap sweet potatoes in foil when they’re baked in the oven. Wrapping them in foil will steam the potatoes, which prevents the skins from becoming nice and crispy.
It’s very important to poke, or prick the sweet potatoes all over with a fork before baking to allow steam to escape. The pricks don’t have to be deep at all, just mainly on the surface of the sweet potatoes.
This recipe is great for meal prep! Simply reheat in the microwave, oven or air fryer, then stuff them or top them with your favorite toppings!
Most of the fiber content in sweet potato comes from the skin, so it should be eaten! Coat your sweet potato with olive oil and salt (or your favorite spices), then place it in the oven and bake until tender.
The oil helps crisp up the skin as it bakes, which adds great texture, and the salt accentuates the flavor. This makes the sweet potato skin absolutely irresistible!
