Summer is hands down the best season for salads because there’s such an abundance of amazing produce to incorporate into them.

Panzanella salad and horiatiki (traditional Greek salad) are two great savory salads that embody summer perfectly, but I also love incorporating sweet summer fruits into my salads as well. I love the sweet and savory flavor combination!

This Strawberry Spinach Salad is a delicious to way to highlight juicy, sweet strawberries. It’s similar to my strawberry fields salad, but it has fewer components and it comes together much more quickly.

It makes a great side dish for almost anything you’re serving, or it makes a fabulous lunch as-is or along with your favorite protein.

When it comes to summer salads, it really doesn’t much easier than this! 🙂

Ingredient notes:

  • Spinach. Use pre-washed baby spinach for a huge timesaver. The spinach may be substituted with your favorite greens.
  • Strawberries. Fresh market strawberries will have the most flavor. Feel free to sub them with raspberries, blackberries, blueberries or use a combination!
  • Red onion. The red onion may be substituted with thinly sliced shallots as they’re much more mild, or they can be omitted altogether.
  • Feta cheese. Sub with goat cheese, fresh mozzarella balls or burrata. Omit the cheese to make this strawberry spinach salad recipe vegan.
  • Walnuts. Sub the walnuts with pecans, almonds, sunflower seeds or pepitas.
  • Dressing. My sweet, tangy balsamic vinaigrette dressing pairs perfectly with these ingredients, but you can substitute it with your favorite store bought dressing.
