Best fall salad recipes

Fall may be about cozy comfort food for most, but this time of year I always look forward to fall salad recipes packed with some of my favorite ingredients of the season.

Each of these recipes are festive and magical in their own rite, whether they incorporate figs, persimmon, pomegranate, pears, apple, brussels sprouts, butternut squash or hardy kale.

Many are great fall lunch ideas as they’re perfect for meal prep, they make great fall side dishes for soup and chili, and especially make a lovely addition to your Thanksgiving and Christmas menus.

Tips for the best fall salads

  • Seasonal fall vegetables and fruits are the best ingredients to incorporate into your fall salads. Because they’re in season, they’re more than likely grown locally and will be much more fresh and flavorful. See the list of seasonal fall produce in the section below.
  • Purchase your produce at a farmer’s market or look for signs that say locally grown in your market for maximum freshness.
  • Select organic produce as its sustainably grown and doesn’t include harmful pesticides.
  • Homemade salad dressings have a fresh flavor that will elevate any salad. See my collection of salad dressing recipes for inspiration.
